Project Description:
I’m the owner of a known Importer in my country, this is my second attempt hiring a programmer from Freelancer.com and I must confess my first experience was not as I expected, many promises with no results or progress yet, the people I awarded and already paid still working on it but I can not allow me to waste time waiting for their response, I must see other solutions in parallel.
For this attempt I want to be sure the person I’m hiring has the knowledge required for this project. I will take no offers from users without feedback, and I won't release any milestone before aimed real progress of the project due my previous experience in Freelancer.com. I believe this project must be developed with constant feedback between me and the programmer, my online schedule is regularly Monday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00 (UTC-04:00), with BlackBerry, MSN, Skype and others IM.
I will try to be the more consistent as possible to explain the project, any doubts please feel free to private message me for serious and immediate answers.
INTRODUCTION
I need to build an oscommerce/prestashop shopping cart filled with Amazon’s product content and values: pictures, videos if applicable, updated or live prices, updated or live stock availability, dimensions and weight to calculate additional surcharge in the oscommerce/prestashop product price, formatted text/image specifications, product reviews, extra shipping fee if applicable Regular/Expedited according to availability (nor PRIME products; PRIME=2nd day free shipping by Amazon),.
POINTS TO CONSIDER
- Will need to grab/handle large number of products (thousands/millions)
- Keep price and stock availability live updated at the oscommerce/restashop according to Amazon’s (I believe all other data not need updates: weight, specs, dimensions, pictures, etc; since this data is keep the same)
- The Operating Process of my cart: All my customer purchases happen in my oscommerc/prestashope cart normally, so once I validate the order manually by offline payment modules, I go directly to Amazon and purchase the product with my account, then Amazon dispatch to me and me to my customer.
IDEAS AND DOUBTS
I’m aware that Amazon offers AWS: Amazon Web Services and other API tools (witch I’m not familiarized at all) from where you can get/download bulk data feed files with updated product content I need, these data traffic is affected to fee if you exceed the free limitations I believe.
• Programmer must be informed about AWS and explain me the cost implications of the project for this features (Amazon barely help with this info), since I will need lot of Amazon products data feed (whole categories to grab) and could meant very costly, this is just thoughts I don’t know how really this works and the involved fees if there’s any.
HOW SHOULD OSCOMMERCE/PRESTASHOP TREAT AMAZON VALUES (DATA FEEDS)
There is lot of work over these variables like import:
Title Name: must be added in CART with meta title, meta desc, meta keywords, friendly url as default source English (also Spanish translation could be added as well in friendly URL or elsewhere to help improve SEO and optimize site search by users)
Product Manufacturer: It should grab the Manufacture name, if the manufacture name doesn’t match any existing, create new manufacture entry name at CART DB (associated with this product)
And it continues, but I need to know first how Amazon data feeds works and involved fees, what values they provide, if they offer data feed by categories, or you can filter the data feeds, etc, that’s why I need someone with knowledge in the topic. Also some ideas come to my mind to avoid traffic (in order to avoid extra fee if applicable), we can download once in time complete data files and then upon product click/request by users from the OSCOMMERCE/PRESTASHOP automatic ask Amazon for value updates related to product ASIN (Amazon product identification code) so we can keep Price and Stock availability live updated for my user
