Hi.

I am programming a game, and have used mostly placeholder graphics thus far. It would be nice to get some real character design for the game.

BTW. It is enough to do "the Captain" and one advisor of your choosing for this project., Not all 4 advisors. More explanation below.

I like the semirealistic, slight cartoonish look. Or at least that is how I describe the look I`m after. The profile pictures should be from about the waist up. Not whole character. They will be used for still images ingame, when conversations are being held, and the like.

For now I`m looking for the main character "the captain", and his advisors. Here`s some background on the captain to get inspiration from: He is in his 30`s. His name is Marshall Holsberg Andersen Jr. He`s from England, Graduated from a Milltary Academy in Canada, is respected and feared, and a hard negotiator. I see him as dark blonde, with blue eyes.

Next I need some advisors. The characters that show up with suggestions and such from time to time. I need a Health Advisor, a People Advisor, a Science Advisor, Tech advisor.

These characters (capt and 4 advisors) should look like near future scifi. Not half machine half human... think about 50 years from now with slow evolution. What is more important is that the characters hint at what advisors they are. Perhaps they all have the same type of advisor clothes, but different colours with a different mark on their clotches.

As a bonus, a kind of UI around the advisor/captain would be cool. The type of popup window that appears with an advisor on the right, room for text on the left, and a scifi-ish border. That maybe take up 1/3 to 1/2 of the screen. But I digress.

Depending on how the game develops, I could need quite a lot of graphics in the same style. I`m thinking situational scenes of a plague breaking out on the ship, or the captain dying in his module, alien contacting the captain and so on. Mysterious objects you encounter, other characters that show up etc.

I have posted a picture of the spaceship (2D topdown as will be ingame) and some 2d charcters that represent the style I like. But I will consider other design styles. I added the sprite insignia.png. I would like to have the symbol (the white circle in the center with the symbol inside) on the captains uniform. The purple square is not needed. PNG with no background is my preferred format.

Just a few questions regarding the contest, what gender would you like the Advisors eg. all male, all female, half male and half female? or it doesn't matter? Also, what size do you want the PNG to be?

  Hi. The captain needs to be a male. Preferably dark blonde, blue eyes, because of the story. About 30ish of age. When it comes to advisors, I`d say about 50/50. Or 60/40 male. Not that important really. In 50-100 years, it`s probably pretty even :)

This is a low-budget indie. My first game, and I`m new to this site. Not knowing what to expect here. Do you have any examples of 2d character drawings to show? There could be more work for the right designer if I think the style fits. Thanks for feedback.
