Design a new project plan for a project in a public sector organization. The plan will be expected to show an understanding of project management principles and methodologies. (2,500 words) Understanding (40%) Depth of knowledge of project planning Understanding of issues in project itself Relevant information included Structure and development of plan (25%) Clear layout and presentation Logical structure Ease of use as a plan Content (25%) Relevant issues identified Use of appropriate tools Provides explanations Quality of presentation (10%) Correct spelling and grammar Correct punctuation Appropriate citation of sources Accurate/consistent referencing style Correct bibliography Obviously you need something that says what the project is about and what it is meant to produce (aim and objectives). The key things that need looking after are the time allowed for the project, so there needs to be a schedule; the cost, so there needs to be a budget; and risk, so you need a risk assessment. Other things that may be important depending on the size and nature of the project are stakeholders (perhaps a map and a communication plan), resources (people needed to work on the project, technical equipment) and governance (committee and reporting arrangements). More technical projects will need information on contracting and procurement. You will also need some way of working out how your project went (evaluation).
