different kind of annotation, inclusive of ALL of the following. Apply these to all of your

the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this
article/book is about, what would you say?
After summarizing a source, it is helpful to evaluate it. Why is it a useful source? How
does it compare with other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable?
What perspective(s) does this article present (i.e., if there is more than one view of a
topic, does this source represent a particular view? What is the goal of this source?
Once you've summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your
research. In what way is this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your
argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how
you think about your topic?
These are summaries, and scholarly work, so be sure your language is academic (avoid
using "you, we, us" in formal writing) and grammatically accurate.
