We have the following table, which we indexed with Apache SOLR: POPULARITY_VISIBILITY_SCORES_ID VISIBILITY_SCORE POPULARITY_RANK TARGET_REGION_ID END_USER_ID POPULARITY_VISIBILITY_SCORES_DATE_MODIFIED POPULARITY_VISIBILITY_SCORES_NOTES We want to be able to sort by VISIBILITY_SCORE and POPULARITY_RANK and then give a RANKING ROW NUMBER to the results. This must be done on a region level and national level. Having a table for each region is not an option - too many collections to maintain. Please message me to discuss more about the project. As a Solr expert of many years I am confident I can help you. While sorting is an option to rank results, you can also incorporate popularity etc, as factors in the relevancy score. This is doable. I do not see any problem in achieving that. Do you any NATIONAL_ID too like REGION_ID. Also, do you want to store the Ranking row number( should not be doing that, that a variable). It would change many times. Let me know what help do you need.
