Hello :) I think I understood your goal in this project. You want to add auto-locking mechanism to standard digital-lock cupboards. There are two challanges I see with this, and I guess both could be dealt with. In order to lock the door electrically, we need to make sure that the door is closed. If we try to lock the door when the door is still open, then it would not be a desired result. That's why a door-lid sensor/switch is needed. I guess you wish to stick some small stickers on the items you wish to put into the cupboard. The higher the frequency of RFID communication, the smaller the tag. That means something high-frequency needed to be use, something like NFC. However, the smaller the tag, the smaller the distance of communication between the tag and the reader. So, how big is this cupboard? The reader will probably be able to read up to 8-10 cm with this technology. Also, how would you like to store the credentials to a "database"? Is adding or changing user information through SerialMonitor okay with you?
