Requirements • Collect the data from the core and distributed branches. • Collect business requirement documents from business site. • Collect system requirement for data warehouse. Analysis • Document current process and solution workflows for both current and proposed state for existing and future reporting requirements. • Document detailed security requirements for accessing data. • Document the infrastructure requirements, hardware and software. • Document user requirements for ad-hoc reporting and analysis. • Analyze the source data and transactional data. • Make sure all source data is available and can be collected. Design • Select database system. • Select server and its operating system. • Design conceptual and solution architecture to support the data warehouse. • Design technical specifications for the staging area, data warehouse, metadata, data mart base on the requirements. • Design logical and physical data models, schema and data structure. • Analyze performance of system and database server tuning. • Analyze frequency of data loading. • Establish interfaces to source systems and data transfer. • Build up data mart from diverse sources and is designed to support query and analysis. Development & Implementation • Develop extraction, transformation and loading data from the source data. • Analyze and determine missing data. • Create physical structure of staging area, data warehouse and data marts. • Perform data loads of new mappings into new structure. • Analyze new data structure to ensure all necessary levels of reporting, analysis and business requirements are met. • Establish data mapping, programs, scripts to perform ETL work of new data contents, formats, and descriptions. • Analyze data loading at various intervals to ensure appropriate loading. • Design and develop require reports. Testing • Develop test cases, test plan and test execution timeline. • Design test scenarios for business requirements. • Establish unit testing, functional testing, and UAT testing environment. Production • Transition to end users and generate the required business reports. • Analyze and validate the reports. • Projection on reports and support decision making.
