I have a Wordpress site. It ranks highly on Google. However, it has some custom CSS and HTML, which prevents it from being updated to the newest version of Wordpress. I am worried about virus and I would like to make it a little cleaner without effecting my rankings. I need content to remain the exact same.

to prevent it from hacking if u cant update the alternative solution is to disable write rights to it. so when it cant write on hdd it will have far less chances to get hacked or caught in malware. i can help u lock folders .
