Change Wordpress Plugin to show date in a different format

I'm using the following Wordpress plugin ([url removed, login to view]). In its default state the plugin displays Events in European standards (day-month-year) in all numerical format. This is very confusing for Americans (it's not clear if 11/12/15 is Nov 12th 2015 or Dec 11th 2015 and they would presume the former even though it would represent the latter based on how it's entered on the back end). Accordingly, I need the website to display the date as day of the week (e.g. "Monday"), 3 letter month (e.g. "Dec"), numerical day (e.g. 12th), and year (e.g 2015). I also need the plugin to continue to display the date appropriately despite theme and plugin updates. I think this is probably very easy for someone who knows what they are doing.
I should have also included in the above description that I need the date to show appropriately even if the Events are created from the front side by frontside users (the plugin allows for front side users to create events). This is vital. Thanks!
