Hi, we use linux to send an update to an online unit we have to write files from one folder to another
The present script is
rm -rf /var/www/captive/* REMOVE THIS LINE?
cp -f ./captive/* /var/www/captive/
This however removes all files on /var/www/captive/ and then adds all new files from 'captive' folder to /var/www/captive/
What I want to do, is only replace some files, so basically, I create a folder called 'captive' add the files to it that I want to replace on /var/www/captive/ and it replaces them
Hello, i have extensive experience in system administration.

You only need a cp command to make this, but if you need some other criteria to make the replace, you ma use a find command or a diff of a list of files in the to folders. I can make that in 1 hour, with the correct information of course
