Designing an Handover Decision System (HDS) based on Fuzzy-logic in MATLAB platform which will be able to select the best network for handover in a heterogeneous wireless network (Cellular, WiMAX and WiFi). The network selection will be based on eight parameters, and the decision parameters are:
1)RSS 2)Latency 3)Packet Loss 4)Data Rate 5)Velocity of mobile node 6)Coverage of the network 7)Usage Cost and 8)Battery Life.
The simulation of mentioned Fuzzy-Based HDS will be done in MATLAB as follows:
1) Three wireless network technologies, namely, WLAN, WiMAX and Cellular.
2) Five WLANs, two WiMAX and one Cellular to represent a more realistic heterogeneous networking environment. It is assumed that, whether mobile or stationary, a mobile node will discover these five networks when it has to perform a network selection function.
3) Two traffic types (VoIP and video streaming) - VoIP Codec ([url removed, login to view]) with a data rate of 64 kbps and video streaming with a bit rate of 0.8–1 Mbp.
