We need a contact importer from Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail. The idea is that someone enters the login/password for his mail account and account type in a WEB page and when submitted the server connects to the selected mail provider and imports the contact list. You don't need to code any WEB page (unless you really need it to test the module in option one from the list below). We only need a module that receives the parameters: login/password/mail provider and returns the list of contacts (mail + name). The module has to be done in Java, we have several options (In preference order). 1.- Use native WEB services from the mail provider (We know it can be done in hotmail, but we believe it can't be done in Yahoo / Gmail). We believe this would be the most reliable way. 2.- Use Apache Commons HttpClient" to interact with the WEB mail clients from the server providers. This is more lower level than the following option, but we believe it's more reliable because does not involve "simulate" a browser, the use of a javascript engine (like Mozilla Rhino). 3.- Use of HtmlUnit (or alike) (More higher level than the previous option, but I think it's the least reliable option). The module has to be very reliable. Quality is really important, it has to work 100% of the times it's used, and if it does not, you have to be sure (and log it) that it's not your fault; Can't connect, or mail provider changed his WEB page (For options 1 & 2) are mostly the main failure causes. A nice thing is that we have some time to develop this (near three weeks to choose the coder and probably two weeks to develop it). Beware that we are coders, so we know about code quality and developing efforts and costs. According to the bids we will see if we hire someone or do it ourselves. UPDATE: We need this in Java, don't bid for it in PHP. It's a server side work (No applets). Best Regards. Demián.
