We have a requirement to produce a PDF document of some online survey results. The PDF document will include different paragraphs and some pie charts depending on simple algorithms based on the results. (e.g if x> y then insert paragraph x)
We are unsure of which technology to use, Jasper Reports, native iText or FOP or indeed something else.
We require help in selecting the solution and implementing a simple demo app. The demo app will be just a stand alone java app.
## Deliverables
The survey results are simply four variables ABCD which will have values of 0-100. Depending on the values of these numbers a document needs to be built and exported to a PDF file. The final location for the code will be a web server that will write the file to disk for future download. For this project we just require a simple java app to prove the technology works.
In addition to inserting different paragraphs the application will have to generate pie charts to insert into the document. Out initial thoughts were that this could be jFreechart or something.
The final fiddley requirement is that the pie charts must be rotated and certain pies exploded depending on the results.
E.g
If A is the biggest score rotate the Pie so that the A pie is at 90 degrees and the pies for B and C are exploded outwards.
I have attached a rather confusing diagram from one of our clients. I hope it adds more information
