My name is Jason and my friend Zach is in need of some programming assistance. He is a personal fitness trainer with various online clients, and he asked that I investigate programming help for him.
His current web site at [[login to view URL]][1] was written in .asp, and he is attempting to covert it to RoR, but he doesn't have the time or programming ability to do it himself. Bodyblog was a very popular (and free) fitness web site a few years back, and now Zach wants to launch the new site with pretty much the same functionality but with a Rails backend, and this time he will be charging clients $50 per month for a 16 week fitness program that includes access to the bodyblog web site, personal coaching calls at home, a diet and exercise program, etc.
I am unfamiliar with the length of time it would take to make such a conversion so I don't know if it would be easier to start from scratch. The main features of Bodyblog include the
following:
1) Ability of each user to create a 4, 8, or 12 or 16 week exercise program, name it, and blog from it as needed.
2) The ability to post progress photos (usually for a 12 week program) at 0, 4, 8, and 12 week intervals.
3) A goals section associated with each program that is created.
4) Abiliity to see other users blogs and make comments.
5) As each user blog post is made, the title of that post appears on the front page, along with the top 5 or so most recent posts.
6) A progress calendar that users can check green, red, or yellow on a daily basis to show how true they were to their program.
