I only need a procedure, and will work it into our existing application. I have attached an example that contains the relevant tables from our application.
In Outlook, there is a Master Category List (MCL). I need this updated by an Access application.
I would think this could either be done with Outlook automation objects and/or directly editing the registry (if it is indeed stored in the registry).
2 tables exist in the Access app, tblCategories and tblSubCategories.
These tables should be parsed and concanonated as follows (Outlook does not support Sub-categories): "Category One - Sub of Cat One"
"Category One - Another Sub of 1"
"Category Two - A sub of 2"
"Category Three - Subcat of Cat #3"
I would like a procedure that goes through all cat's/subcat's and adds them if they don't already exist. It needs to maintain what was already in the Outlook MCL (i.e. user may have added categories from within Outlook that are outside the sceop of the application).
Outlook is in a local area network enviroment with an Exchange 5.5 server. When the MCL is updated by the user, those changes should be apparent to other users in the enviroment.
This is one-way, the application does not need import categories from the MCL.
Take careful note of the platform requirements below.
Another catch: needs to be done ASAP! It'd be nice to get it done by the end of the weekend, or early next week. There's a real time element to this project. Please include your timeframe in your bid.
In the Access App provided, there's another table, tblSetup. Add a field to this (or several) if you'd like. An example usage might be; Provide 2 procedures. The first does some searching and determines the path to the correct registry key. That path is stored in a newly created field in tblSetup. The second uses that key (grabbed from the table) to perform the updating.
Don't do anything fancy, GUI-wise, it will be a waste of your time. I'd like clean, readable, and commented code. Throwing the procedures into a module would be a nice idea.
Well, if you've read the babbling this far, you're probably ready to bid. Good luck to all bidders!
