Common Dialog Box Modified in VB

I need to change the common dialog box used in VB so I can customize it myself. I want an extra panel on the right side so I can preview an image when one is selected in the box. BUT here is the catch. I want this to be a control, not an added part of the program. In otherwords, if I am writing a VB app and am using the microsoft common dialog box, I want to add this control also and let it modify the dialog box whenever it is opened and only for when I am loading a file (Not saving). It cannot use any 3rd party controls itself except API calls as well. But I do understand the common dialog control is to be used too. IF YOU CAN write a complete custom dialog control yourself instead, please let me know. This would be even better! Otherwise, write an addon one to display BMP, JPG and GIF files in a picturebox on the side.
