This app is intended to be allow the end user to set up a "distribution list" or a list of people in their contacts (for one time use or be able to save the list for future use). Then they can create a SMS message with mail-merge-like commands. Egs:
For Holidays:
"Merry X-Mas <<FirstName>>!"
Occasions:
"Hey <<FirstName>>, I'm getting Married! I just wanted to make sure I have your address right so I can mail you an invitation. I have your address as: <<Address>>" [][1]
Going out:
"Hey <<FirstName>>... What are you doing tonight?
The app would then send a message to each recipient replacing the <<" ">> with whatever information is in the Contact's address book entry.
## Deliverables
Here is some of the functionality that I would like implemented in the app.
**The recipient list:**
* Ability to save multiple lists (3-10)
* Add/delete/edit lists
* Add:
* Import an entire list that already exists
* Import entire address book
* pick names from the address book
* Edit:
* Add or remove recipients from the list
* Change The name of the list
* Delete:
* Remove entire list
* Ability to name each list
**Message Editor:
**
* Maintain the original look and feel of the native app.
* If it can actually use the native app, that would be great
**Message Delivering:
**
* Status bar that shows the progress of the messages sent
* there needs to be a contingency for sending errors. I'm open to ideas that would work the best or be the easiest to develop.
* Initially I'm thinking that if there is an error while sending the app stops and allows the user to try again where it left off.
* Or it continues sending the list creating a log of the recipients who encountered an error while sending and and then be able to try again with just those recipients.
