This is a relatively easy project. Using jQuery and AJAX calls to a PHP script this project can be completed in just a few short days. Emoticons and photo (or any other file) file upload and sharing on the chat window. I can also program the popup window for many to one or one to one chats (aka group vs private). I would also recommend making any picture or file uploads temporary to save space on the server and this could be taken care of with the same PHP script that manages the chat window. I have over a decades worth of experience in the information systems field, with extensive knowledge in open source web development (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, mySQL) across a wide scale and variety of projects.
