I’m building a wordpress site for a gold dealer who wants to offer cash for people’s gold that they can send in. Pretty much identical to the million other companies out there doing the same thing.
The website centers around a quoting form .When people click through to the form they are presented with 2 main options: Gold or Platinum.
FORM PAGE1: They enter the weight of, say, their gold – they also enter the carat and hit ‘NEXT’. In an ideal world we’d love to have sliders to change these values but time and budget are of the essence.
FORM PAGE 2: They are shown the amount quoted with a ‘what do you want to do now’. They are presented with 3 options:
1/ Say ‘yes’ – they are directed to a page explaining how to send in or bring in their gold to the shop
2/ Say ‘no, not interested’ – they are directed to a nag page
3/ Say ‘give me a couple of days to think about it’ – They are directed to a page where they enter their details. They will be sent an email verifying the quote amount, a time and date 48 hours from when the email is sent out as a quote expiry date and a reference number. These details will also be logged in the admin section of the website so when the person calls in to take them up on the quote, they can easily find that person’s details and verify that the quote is still valid.
At face value it’s a fairly simple form, just spread over a couple of pages and logging data in the backend of WP.
The twist in the tale, however, is that the price of gold and platinum changes twice a day. We can’t rely on a feed or a screen-scraper to get this info off a 3rd party site so the client is going to have to enter this info (ideally through the back-end of the site) manually. As far as I’m aware there are 3 different carat values for gold and 2 grades of purity for platinum so twice a day, he'll have to enter 5 different figures into (ideally) a section in the WP backend and the customer will be quoted 90% of whatever figures the client enters.
I hope that makes sense and I'm happy to elaborate on any part of this if anyone has any questions.
My normal developer hasgot tied up in another project and left me a little in the lurch - I have a 2 week deadline to get the site live so someone who can do this sooner rather than later would be preferred :)
All the data for live quotes, pending quotes and archived quotes needs to be displayed in a list in the backend of work wordpress so we can then note whether or not we have contacted the client by sms/email etc.
