Hello Ross, I would suggest to implement an Arduino nano with NET or WIFI shield instead of PI because of power consumption, then you should add a battery charging circuit and maybe a IR light for night shots, other than a memory card, depending on image size, that will needed in order to send data over the network You don't need a huge battery, a simply 2000mAh LI-PO will be fine, and some Aliexpress mini camera will complete your design. About me, over 20 years, my job consists in realizing working micro controller - driven prototypes of products and systems, starting from scratch, with focusing on aspects related to the safety of workers and users, as well as drafting of the necessary technical documentation. Our laboratory is equipped to test and optimize applications on BeagleBone, Arduino, Raspberry, and in general on AVR microcontrollers, Atmel, PIC Micro, Intel, Texas Instruments and ARM.
