Option 1

Describe the most significant issues regarding insurance against flood that became

prominent during the recent flooding in Queensland and elsewhere in

Australia. Discuss the points of view and positions of each of the major stakeholders

(i.e. insurers, reinsurers, policyholders and the government) in relation to these

issues. Recommend a solution to one of these issues, giving your reasons.

Option 2

Reverse mortgages have been described as an ideal way for home owners to provide

an income for themselves in retirement. Describe what a reverse mortgage is and how

it can be used in this way. Consider the positions of each of the major stakeholders

(i.e. retirees, product providers and the government) and give your opinion on

whether you believe reverse mortgages are an appropriate product for providing

retirement incomes and why.
