My approach to developing Crystal Reports applications is to offload as much work as I can to the underlying DBMS (Database Management System) and if possible, have Crystal merely present the data. Normally, the DBMS is considerably more capable of complex business logic and data processing than Crystal, whereas Crystal is very powerful at data presentation. The result is re-useable database resources and a light weight report that is fast and flexible. I have seen many Crystal applications where Crystal did all the work and the DBMS did nothing except present tables to link to.
I attached the documentation I created for one of my SQL Server/Crystal projects. This particular report automated a process that prevented a credit manager from manually inspecting a 500+ page report twice a month.
I use ERwin data modeling software that automates much of the work involved in analyzing, documenting, prototyping, and producing database resources. Much of this type of work is often necessary to efficiently create Crystal Reports that have complex data requirements. I can use MS Visio to document a project at many different levels.
Follow up support for my client is something I take very serious. The manner in which I design and document a project enables me to quickly provide technical support and revisions, even after years of separation from the project. My work and availability schedule is very flexible and accommodating. Numerous references and samples of my work are available upon request. A full guarantee accompanies all of my work, and my clients are not expected to pay for anything they are not satisfied with.
Remote collaboration has been very successful using Remote Desktop, GoToMeeting and GoToMyPC.
