We are a medium-sized fruit processing company. We are specialized in apple juice but we offer 25 different kinds of other juices as well. In harvest time, our customers deliver us their apples in kilos (weight) and get bonus points. One bonus point equals one bottle of juice. The customer has to pay an additional processing fee. If the customer wants to, he can buy other kinds of juices as well. Therefore the processing fee is higher, because he delivered apples and gets for example orange juice. Actually the customer gets his bonus points on a preprinted standard carton paper. The exchange factor varies during the harvest time. At the beginning the output of juice for a delivered amount of apples is lower because the fruits are sometimes verdant. So the customer gets less bonus points. In the peak the customer gets more bonus points because the fruits are ripe.
We need a software to optimize this process.
We prefer a mysql and visual basic/c++ combination but Microsoft Access 2003 is possible as well.
The software must contain two parts: The database and the GUI.
This is our idea:
We want to give every customer a chip card / rfid card / swipe card with a number for identification.
We want to save the customers master data (address, phone number, e-mail) in a database.
We want to save the transaction data in the same database as well.
The customer gets a recipe for every delivery and every demand.
The transaction data contain the following elements:
1. Harvest data (actual season - e.g. 2011)
2. Exchange factors for kilos in bonus points (e.g. 56 points for 100 kg) for a period (e.g. 01-08-2011 until 01-09-2011) in a season (e.g. 2011)
1. Apple Delivery data and corresponding bonus points with a unique transaction number
2. Juice demands and corresponding bonus point off-take with a unique transaction number. (The oldest bonus points must be taken first and it must be clear if the customer demanded apple juice or any other juice)
To speed up the process we want to connect the rfid card number with the customer number before the customer arrives. The customer fills out a questionnaire with his master data. We want to assign the data to the number later.
This should be the new process:
During harvest time:
The customer arrives with his apples. They are weighted. Afterwards the customer gives his card to the cashier and the software shows his actual balance. The cashier adds the delivered amount of kilos. The customers gets a recipe with the transaction number, the actual date, delivered amount, added bonus points and the actual balance.
Outside harvest time:
The customer arrives and demands juice e.g. 20 bottles. The customer gives his card to the cashier and the software shows his actual balance. The cashier adds the demanded amount of bottles (in bonus points). The customer gets a recipe with the transaction number, the actual date, demanded amount (in bonus points) and the actual balance.
