I'm hosting a discourse forums site that uses Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and Ember.js. I need to have a slick chat room to add on as a subdomain, which will use the user database (single login), and be feature rich.
I don't require voice or video chat, just aesthetically pleasing, emoticons, linking, ability to private message users, and a design which feels the same as discourse.
I tried some of the open source gabber offerings, but they were all very basic. Am not opposed to the protocol, but you must have a web interface which is feature rich. The free ones were very minimalistic, and lacking features. Actually might prefer gabber, as members could use a free mobile client to connect. Best pitch at a reasonable price gets the project. Please be detailed in your response, and provide examples and/or mockups if possible.

This theme is new for me. I'm very interested in this kind of projects. Building chat rooms is a new apporciunity for me, but I think it's not for a long time!
