We're looking for an expert on deploying WordPress on the Azure cloud hosting platform using VSTS as the repository. The site is a Soccer blog built on the Newspaper Theme by tagdiv. Some optimisation already performed includes installation and configuration of W3 total cache, implemntation of cloudflare, addition of Smush for image compression, and other things.
The site runs as an Azure Web Application, so WordPress running on IIS infrastructure as a service. It is quite busy with 100's of concurrent active users. Currently we're running on the Azure Standard VMs which are set-up to Autoscale on load and each only manages about 60 active users before failures start to occur. Page speed has gradually reduced as we have incorporated some different advertising options.
Your tasks (each will be contracted separately as fixed price based on your estimates):
1. Create a Staging and Development Slot on Azure linked to TSFS and TFS project. You will not have the clone app option available in Azure as it is only available at the premium tier. Please take note of the following:
->a. The development slot will need to be created first. It will have it's own database (using clearDB) and need to be created from the current live site without impact to the live site on a deployment slot available for the current account.
->b. It will then be swapped with the stage slot which will connect with the live database. You will need to set-up all of the appropriate configurations, etc to ensure the swap automatically ensures the correct connection to the database, etc.
->c. You will need to create the DNS records such the development slot is available at [url removed, login to view] and the staging environment is available at stage.oursite.com. Both the dev and stage will need to be protected by basic password security (This would be htaccess style security if it was a linux box.)
Please do not underestimate the work required in configuring these services. We have done similar in the past (not with WordPress) and know the process required. We do not want people that are leaning or have never done this before, this needs specialists!
Once the dev and stage environments are configured, the real work starts. We need you to optimise the site such that pagespeed analysis reports over 80% fo both desktop and mobile and GTmetrics reports pageload of less than 6s and Grade A results for both pagespeed and YSlow.
You will have the access required, but please do not apply for this job if you not familiar with optimising WordPress on IIS infrastructure.
This job is not for people who think they know how Azure works, or WordPress specialists, you MUST be a specialist in optimising and managing Wordpress on the Azure platform within an IIS as a service infrastructure.
Once optimisation is complete, the server response time needs to be under 2s (bonus will be paid if you can achieve under 1s) as reported here: [url removed, login to view]
To be paid and receive 5 star feedback the site must have mobile and desktop score of at least 80, and server response must be under 2s using pagespeed insights link above. If you are not certain you achieve this, without insisting on plug-ins being removed, theme changes, etc, please do not bid on the job as you will not be paid and you will receive bad feedback. In addition to Pagespeed metrics, the site must eporrt pageload time of less than 6s and grade A for both pagespeed and YSlow scores as reported on GTmetrics.
In your response please provide link to other complex WordPress sites that you have optimised and any that are running on Azure. Also please include the strategies for optimisation you plan to use and the configuration that yo think will be required for Azure services. (Which services and at what level).
