You are required to assess the changes to the works listed and present them in a priced variations account and a short (approximately 1500 words) report. The account is to follow contract administration conventions and the reports is to cover the following points:
1. The meaning of terms set out in bold in the box
2. The contract clauses relevant to the changes, valuation of changes, extensions of time and loss/ expenses payments... For this you should obtain (through LSBU library on-line resources- CIS site via Technical Indexes) a copy of the contract mentioned in the project details.
3. Construction assumptions drawn from technical literature and/or texts.
4. The main measured (NRM2) reference to item (if any) that would be involved in each issue.
5. The source of prices, for both omissions additions to the work.
6. Current prices , for both omissions and additions:
a. Omissions obtained from a suitable price book, or on-line rates database.
b. Additions to be built up using analytical pricing principles with current prices for materials and labor (obtained from industry or from nationally agreed rates. Each price is to have a source of pricing noted.
7. What the financial effect would be to the Employer if the change is made late.
a. So that it delays subsequent work
b. So that any substituted work has already been carried out.
• Will the change affect the critical path?
• Could an extension of time be claimed?
• Could loss and expense be claimed?
