Looking for Logical Fallacies

Here is an article about the use of Native American nick-names for sports teams. Print and Read the assignment and do the following exercises.

Assignment:

You are to analyze the essay to see if it meets the academic standards we have just discussed.

What is the tone of the essay? Is it appropriate? Quote examples and explain your answer.

Check for the proper level of formality. Find five example to support your answer. Explain each.

Essay Assignment:

Write an essay in which you analyze the merit of the Andy Rooney article based on the criteria of appropriate language, and tone.

Assignment requirements:

Establish an organization. For this paper prioritizing would be best. You could also develop an argument by putting your best arguments first and last with your weakest in the middle.

Use quotes to support your opinions. When a statement is made about the article and its reliability you must provide supporting evidence. A quote is the best choice. Once a quote is used you must provide an explanation of how your choice of quotes proves your point.

Each quote must have an in-text citation as per MLA.

Format requirements:

This paper must be 3-5 pages in length. No shorter or longer papers

Use third person

avoid contractions

MLA format

Do not write in the first person. Any sentence that has I, my, mine, ours, we, me, us or anything else that indicates first person must be edited out of the paper. I will grade hard for infractions. Do not use contractions. That is when you put two words together. For example, don't, wouldn't and the like.
