I am an artist from Seattle that goes by the name of Like Lions and I’m looking to collaborate with a videographer/animator on a long form music video project. This year I released a four-part EP project titled “Election Season”, each EP reflects on the progressing insanity we’ve all been living through this year. The project is complimented by a 60-page coffee table book that includes lyrics and short essays on the writing process. I have an opportunity in 2021 to have a unique video/film featured on a new ticketed digital platform (sales to be split with collaborator) and I am looking for someone to work with on the project.
The video would run around 30-40 minutes and would include 10 songs and a handful of short spoken excerpts from the coffee table book. I’ll be editing and mixing all the audio.
I’d like for the video to have a bit of mixed media, while leaning toward animations and cartoons. The loose story line would be a cartoon representation of myself essentially taking a tour through America and all of the chaos of 2020. Almost like a Forrest Gump style run through of slightly fictionalized versions of real events, except they’ll all be things that happened just this year and are all tied back to lyrics in the songs. I was hoping some of the imagery could get a bit surreal or psychedelic, and again could mix media, maybe real film, spliced in frames of lyrics etc.
As far as types of animation and media I’m imagining, below are some examples of some of my favorites.
Animation/video inspirations:
