This project is one that is speculative in nature and may not materialize. My efforts are to determine project difficulty, development time, costs, feasability and ongoing support and maintenance.
The objective of this project is to utilize the internet to allow users to report information about their activity by way of a secured log in. Multiple users must be able to simultaneously log in at anytime all the time. The database must be able to manage large volumes of data and records, in excess of 1,000,000 each calendar year, all unique and never duplicated. Datawarehousing will be important as well, as this data will be kept for many years. Exportation of the data in a common format will be crucial, as will user and administrative querying and standard and custom reporting from the database. I was thinking an Oracle database but I\'m open to suggestions. The system must link to other databases on mainframes as well. The dataset will contain approximately 100 elements.
The connection to the servers must always be secure, as the data will be confidential. Access to the servers must be secure with solid authentication of the user before entering data and retrieving reports. There will be thousands of users.
I realize these specs are somewhat vague but I can elaborate further upon communication with interested parties.
You are in the very beginning of the project - I am reaady to discuss possible solutions with you - please contact me xxxxxx@[login to view URL] or xxxxxxxxx in icq.
We can discuss on the problem in elobrate so that we can make the accurate estimation. Also can find which softwares to be used, to lower the cost based on the need.
1. Do you wish to deploy any transaction manager? 2. Which RDBMS do you have in mind? 3. Is it possible to use Open Source software? These and similar questions I am ready to discuss at your earliest convenience
I can program and test everything except for Oracle. I recommend choosing Oracle for the volume of transactions but if price is a concern I can definetly make an open source version function as well for a lot cheaper.
