Hello there! No daemon, login script or huge application development (with possible bugs) needed. I can do it the standard UNIX way. There exists one standard package that helps with command restrictions. It requires root access, of course. For ease of use, I can develop you a utility (in well-commented C/C++) that will set/change restrictions to the commands listed in your configuration file for given user. I could write a daemon and keep it running with System V or systemd will also require to create a init script to be placed in /etc/init.d then use daemon to write and parse profile of per user , This is a long process . There is much better and easier way how we can achieve the same requirement without a daemon or / service running all the time . write an add user script which will not only create a new user but also create a custom profile for him where he will be restricted from accessing daemon's for example I want my new user to be able to use fg bg cp mv vi cat .... but not aptitude or bash The profile for him will be created with a custom bash_profile in his home directory which he as the user cannot edit or delete . the script will take aptitude and bash as argument and disable this for the user . Creating new user is just an add-on I can write script in the way so you can also execute on existing user . I guess i explained a little too much , but that's okay :)
