Integrate C code with Matlab

There are a bunch of old open source codes. I want to use one of the open-source codes (for algorithms) written in C, at the end of the 1990s. I will use this code (algorithm) integrated with Matlab so that I can do further analysis using Matlab functions or code.
Hence, the task will be:
- fixing some bugs at the C code, suitable for Windows 10,
- Integrate the fixed C code to a sample Matlab code (test code in Matlab that uses the baseline C function)
