Convert XLS files and import into Azure SQL

In one of my previous project, I worked with large amount of XML files that I transfer via ftp to an azure website folder on a daily basis. I was using C# to transfer the data to azure sql server tables. But this was extremely slow. Later, I was trying to run an Azure SQL job to bulk import these files; So I was unsure how to do this in Azure; Later I understand that any T-SQL interface is not supported to read files from blob store or container. So simply I need to push the data from outside of the SQL server; One option is to use Azure Automation to run the code periodically or based on a schedule; And it works actually and is with a speed. Basically data import to and export data from, SQL Server and Azure SQL Database, various methods are available. The methods include Transact-SQL statements, command-line tools, and wizards. Here are various possibilities:- I can import data with the BULK INSERT or the OPENROWSET(BULK...) commands. Typically, need to run these commands in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Also, I can import and export data with the BCP command-line utility. Even, I can import a text file into SQL Server by using the Import Flat File Wizard in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Hi, I have done something similar, on my previous job, we were receiving xls files with stock prices, and we had to insert them into an Oracle DB. What I did was reading through the file and convert the data into SQL script that contains SQL INSERT statements that maps fields on the xls file to fields on different tables, which we then ran on the DB. It could be also done in a way that it gets inserted straight into the DB giving that the tool have connection to the DB, but in my case, the script had to be checked first before it gets applied, as stock prices are sensitive data.
