Dear Sir or Madam,
From July 2015 to Jan 2018, I have been working as a middle school Mandarin teacher for two years and a half in Tampa, Florida. Although I love teaching and adore my students, I left the school in Jan 2018 due to personal reasons.
Before working full time as a middle school teacher, I worked part-time for USF Confucius Institute. The USF Chinese program's basic idea is to help students learn the language in the culture, not only having high speaking and listening skills, but acquiring necessary cultural norms. I have tutored students on their class work, HSK preparation, Chinese bridge competition, and etc. One of my friends, Lindsey O’brian, who I tutored regularly, have won the first place in southern America and got an opportunity to compete in China.
At the middle school where I have taught about two years and a half, I taught several curriculum-Step up with Chinese, Qtalk, Integrated Chinese and etc. I used a multiple teaching techniques with students such as Total Physical Response (TPR), communicative approach and natural method. In addition, every day, I prepared a short English article as their bell work. The topics are information about China, ranging from geography, history, clothing, music, holidays to news, regional introductions and etc. After three years, I have accumulated a large database of well-written articles. I believe my experiences make me capable to populate the platform with phrases, stories and meanings.
