I'm looking for someone who can engage equally with Greek mythology and the hum-drums of confessional writing. If poetry and prose both have their place in your heart, that's a good sign.
I admire the work of poets as far and wide as Robert Hass, Koyabasi Issa, Rilke, Rumi, Kahlil Gibran right through to Wendy Cope, Plath, Hughes, and many more.
As a writer I'm trying to express something I don't understand very well. Many of the event the small decisions I make I deliberate on with great intent. It's important that you get that, whilst making sure there are no amatuerish mistakes in work, or too great a flight of fancy. I am very willing to change words and order, so long as the poem or piece remains true to the subject and intent. If that makes sense to you, we might very well do great things together.
If you can put up with my dyslexia and delusions of grandeur, whilst keeping it real, we'll get along very well.
I want to be able to give you my work, and come back to it edited and proofread, whilst remaining true to subject; honed in its intention and free from my stupidity.
I'm plagued by my inability to spot niggling mistakes, and often to hone the purpose of a piece.
That you are engaged with the work - understanding its aim - whilst remaining a professional distance from it is essential.
I want a long-term relationship, so the experience can aggregate.
You're also going to have to be okay with me writing about women, alot. And women and men. I don't shy away from it.
