1) Overview

The crime book is launched in UK in October and we have been tasked with creating a Youtube campaign of 3 moving video sequences. The client is looking for something that is quite edgy, enigmatic and dark. The aim of the campaign is to promote the book launch to the core crime readership in UK. The sequences will also be shown on a series of websites.

2) Core Content

Wherever possible we would like to link the visual effects to key features in the book. These include a gunshot, fire/flames, phone ringing,

3) Sequence 1 – 10secs approx

We want this to set up the fact that the book is coming soon but not to give much away. It should be quite ambiguous and hard.

Black screen, gun shot and flash of light, footsteps, phone receiver is picked up and 112 is dialled, Coming soon appears on screen (possibly look as if it’s being shaken slightly). Possible bright red pool of blood grows as phone dial tone is heard. Fade to black again. Packshot of book front cover appears and client website. Fade to black with caption – Don’t Miss It.

4) Sequence 2 – 12secs approx

Aim is to give more product information and we will have 3-4screens of information about the book interspersed with moving imagery. We would like it to seem similarly dark. A match is let and tossed, flames come at the viewer to fill frame. Final shot is again book packshot. The text needs to be interesting possibly with effects e.g. shaking.

5) Sequence 3 – 15secs approx

Flames come at the viewer to fill frame and silhouette walks toward screen until frame is black. There will follow 4-5 screens of product related information, which again needs the same treatment to make sure the 3 sequences look part of the same family.
