Let me tell you, I have very much experience in doing similar kind of projects in SharePoint. I think first we need to know the SharePoint version of the BAK file. To Restore the Site Collection is just execute a Powershell command. If doesn't work it's because the version of the SharePoint environment from where the backup was taken is different from the version of the SharePoint environment where you are trying to Restore the site. If that happens we just need to check both versions and make them to be the same installing patches.

Hello - I can help restore the backup file, however before awarding me the project please ensure you have the logistics information about the version of Sharepoint.. Patch level, SQL and other windows patch levels once it was taken. Regards AA
