We have 2 websites that are [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] Our main website (Main domain) is hosted offsite, and is wordpress based. Our online store (subdomain) is hosted by ourselves, and is ASP.NET based, on IIS. Currently we are tracking this as 2 separate views in Google Analytics, but we would like to combine these into one view and create a segment to separate the 2 websites. We also have a large number who go first to [login to view URL], and then click to [login to view URL] which is seen by Google as a bounce. We want to be able to track the links all the way through both websites. We will need some customised google analytics code, and we need a freelancer to help us. We also need to be able to keep the old data from both views if possible.
Hello,
There are a couple different ways to do this that I can go through with you. I have experience with this form of cross-domain tracking.
There are a couple different ways to do this but there is not necessarily a way to transition the data over to the new view.
HOWEVER
We could maintain tracking to both of these current views and then setup a new view so the old data is there to reference at a later date. This would be the recommended approach.
Google Tag Manager would probably be the preferred way to do it if you don't have any event tracking (other than outbound link tracking). If you do have custom event tracking we can just build you out custom analytics codes.
This would be rather quick to do and I hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks,
Kevin
Hello,
I specialize in Google Analytics and would love to work with you on this project. I have completed well over 100 implementations and account audits/optimizations for Google Analytics.
I am confident I can help you with your current issue in a fast and effective manner. My solution would be to create an additional view to combine the two sites, in addition to solving your cross domain issue.
If you have any questions or would like to talk further about the project, please don't hesitate to message me.
Thank you,
Robert
