I am seeking an experience Zabbix expert for ongoing work. I am implementing Zabbix across multiple sites on multiple technologies and am seeking a Zabbix expert for ongoing work. The ideal person for this role would have experience and broad knowledge of Windows and Linux networks as there is ongoing opportunities for work and to become a valued member of our team. While it is understood that nobody can know everything, and that research and learning is always required for every project, I am specifically seeking a freelancer with as much experience and technical know-how as possible. The project may involve development of custom Zabbix templates. The immediate project would include: Set up Zabbix proxy at multiple sites. Implement monitoring of: Windows Server Uptime Windows Server CPU Windows Server HDD space Windows Server RAM usage Windows Server configuration in compliance with our security policies Windows Server event log monitoring Windows Server login monitoring Exchange monitoring Linux Server monitoring the same as above Hyper-V monitoring VMWare monitoring ProxMox monitoring iDrac and iLO monitoring SNMP monitoring Veem monitoring Altaro monitoring PC last user login PC asset age reporting PC software installed reporting Group policy applied reporting Monitor specific registry settings. SQL DB monitoring Blacklist monitoring Website monitoring Website scraping Office 365 and Azure monitoring Setup Zabbix interface for optimum viewing of information Setup Email alerts Setup SMS alerts (TBC) Document all processes and configurations you implement in our wiki The successful freelancer will need to sign our confidentiality agreement. G'day. I am an NZ-based infrastructure and IT Security expert with more than 20 years experience in system administration, system monitoring, logging, networking and IT security. During my professional career I have worked on many projects in Australia for Deloitte, IBM, Lend Lease, NAB, Australia Post, etc. My experience in monitoring began in the 1990s when I implemented SNMP MIBs in a router product for remote management. In my next role, at a national ISP, I was responsible for network monitoring and traffic billing using a large distributed SNMP architecture. I have used Linux since it was invented and other UNIXes before that. My Masters Thesis (see portfolio) involved source code modifications to a UNIX-like system to add monitoring instrumentation. A few months ago I deployed Zabbix to monitor the performance of a web farm for an Australian web hosting company. I have years of experience monitoring many types of devices via SNMP, Zabbix, Nagios, MRTG, Kafka streams and SSH scripts. I have more than 20 years experience in IT forensics so I know the internals of Linux & Windows very well, so I can monitor those systems using SNMP or Windows WMI. Because of my forensics experience I know how and where to find information such as last login etc on Windows. I am a very senior person, which is reflected in my rate. Given the size of this project, do you have dedicated staff that will assist on configuring zabbix agents, snmp, wmi on all monitored clients ? ( Windows, Linux, VMWare etc. ) or will the consultant handle all the required configs (server and client side) ? Best Regards.

Hi. Thank you for an interesting project. I have like 5+ years experience and also am using zabbix the same way you need to. In my experience i would suggest to separate the work this way: 1. trivial stuff to implement Contains instalation of proxies, monitoring of Windows, linux servers (RAM, CPU, HDD), website monitoging, SMS or mail alerts and basically everything that is avalible at zabbix share. This is trivial to calculate or do. 2. Development This is monitoring of iLo, DRAC, Veeams, Altaro, DBs, o365. this would need to make a estimation based on the time it will take and after doing the work then we shall see the real time spend on it. 3. assets monitoring IMHO a better sw we are using is GLPI for assets, software instalation mgmt then zabbix. I would suggest GLPI instead of zab for this purpose if it is possible. I can show you an example of GLPI or give a conference call with teamviewer. 4. Graylog Graylog is perfect for monitoring stuff like last PC user login, blacklisting, GPO reports, or other valuable data that can be extracted from logs, but basically it can be transformed into zabbix (but it is much more difficult and more expensive to implement) . If you wish to have it in zabbix, then we shall make a coarse-grained estimation of the planned deployment time and then after the implementation we shall calculate the real time. But I would rather suggest Graylog. If you are interested, do not hesitate to write to me for more info or a conference call.
