I have worked with MS Access for over 25 years, chiefly using it as a rapid development tool for SME or departments within large businesses to automate business processes. Access is excellent for building a front end. If you are looking for security, concurrency and performance, then I would recommend placing data on a SQL Server that Access acts as the front end for.
