Moving articles from InDesign to web

To move articles (car tests) from InDesign to a (proprietary) web publishing system. We are in a project to move material from our Desktop Publishing System (InDesign) to dynamic webpages in our (proprietary) content management system. We would like to move material from 2011 up until today, and we are talking about 26 issues a year. Every single article can be as short as one (1) page and up to 16 pages. The articles are in Swedish language and the content is test reviews of cars. Since the articles follows ”normal magazine standards” we do not think there will be any problems understanding the structure (what is headline, and so on). We will distribute every single article as one package. Each package contains of the InDesign document, all the pictures in magazine resolution (high), and also a PDF document so you have the opportunity to get an overview of the article in actual form and outlook from the print magazine. Your assignment will be to copy all the text in inDesign and paste in the right fields (headline, preamble, body text, captions and so on) in the web publishing system. In our web publishing system you start with creating a ”new article”. Our web system is a modular system with preset templates for this assignment. In the modular article page you will find fields for ”headline”, ”preamble”, ”body text” and so on”. So you just copy the desired part of the magazine article (for example the headline) and then paste it into the field for ”headline”. The system is written in English. There are always one or more picture(s) in the articles. Since the pictures in InDesign document are in low resolution you have to find the corresponding picture in the picture folder included in the package. Our web publishing system will only accept up to 3600 pixels in width, so there will be some picture editing (i.e. resizing) made by you in optional picture editing application before uploading to the web publishing system article. After editing the picture will be uploaded in the article you just created. Uploading of pictures is done in the same way via standard ”upload” button as common in web pages. In case there are a table in the magazine you have to do a screenshot, and then publish the screenshot as a picture in the web publishing system. That’s because its very awkward to copy and paste tables from magazine to web with a good result. What you need: InDesign CC2015 or later. A fast web connection for receiving packages. What you will get: A personal account and a guided introduction (with pictures) to our web publishing system (all in English language). How to create a new article, how to upload pictures, how to complete the article with more modules (if needed) and so on. Test and delivery If you find this assignment interesting, please contact us. We will provide you with one ”test package” and all the instructions and credentials needed. We will do so for the best of the two of us. After you have delivered the test package to our publishing system, we will take a decision regarding a contract. Quantity This is a big order. We have estimated the job to approximately 1100 articles and somewhere around 1.200 hours. We also have a tight deadline to finish this, so we will not leave the commission to one single person. You will be one in a group of contributors. We will review all the applicants in the last days of November 2017.
