Need rough code in either Perl or Python to explore viability
of monitoring whether email was successfully delivered to a multitude of ISP's.
Want to monitor whether messages from a mailing list were delivered successfully. ? Want to monitor Yahoo, Gmail, AOL and Hotmail.
Yahoo and Gmail can be accessed via POP3, and therefore Fetchmail can do that work. ? Piece of cake.
AOL and Hotmail are web only interfaces, and the only solution I know of is
Thunderbird and the Webmail extension. ? Iffy.
Furthermore, I need to not only get the email in the Inbox at these ISP's, but also any email they diverted to the Spam Folder.
A benchmark popmail account is available, and will be the starting point.
Any mailing list message found in the benchmark inbox, will then be compared to the Yahoo, Gmail, AOL and Hotmail accounts.
Your program must compare and contrast the different mbox accounts, after all the email is downloaded.
A report will be produced, telling which ISP's had the corresponding email in their Inbox, what time it arrived, the Subject line, and the number of bytes in the body of the email.
Other possibilities are that the email went into the Spam folder at the ISP, or it was bounced.
This prototype needs to figure out how to access email at all ISP's in both the Inbox and Spam Folders, and then compare and contrast between the benchmark delivery and results at the ISP.
