WEB SITE REDESIGN (LOOK AND FEEL)

Project Overview: We’re looking for a new look and feel for our website([url removed, login to view]) based on our new logo/brand. It should be bold, simple and emphasize the user experience. We need your help in concepting a new design. We have a great team of programmers but we’re lacking on the creative front. For this project you will create mock-ups of three pages on our website ??" jpegs. We will take these jpegs and create style-sheets and page layouts based on your design. Bidders should plan on concepting the homepage first. Interested bidders will recieve a Branding Study package with our new logo/colors/text and other information. Once we agree upon a look and feel / design you will then concept the other two sublevel pages based on this design. About [url removed, login to view]: [url removed, login to view] is an information website. We publish countless articles, blog entries, etc. The site is powered by Movable Type. Our readership includes nonprofit leaders and board members from around the country. Your work will benefit organizations such as The American Cancer Society, the Susan Kohman Foundation, universities/colleges, The Red Cross, etc.

## Deliverables

Brand/Look/Style: We want something bold and clean. The current site is soft and earthy (and cluttered). Lots of primary colors but not confusing to the eye (and white space still trumps a page of solid blocks that look like a rainbow). See our brand study attached. o Simplify. Simplify. Always Simplify: Simplify the user experienced. This re-design/re-launch is spurred by a need to simplify. Note: we will be simplifying our sitemap as part of this re-launch. o Universal Navigation: Design should feature a universal navigation ??" bar. This ‘header’ or ‘sidebar’ (your choice) should be consistent from page-to-page. o Help the eyes: We have a lot of information. We need to use design to direct the user so that she does not suffer from information overload. o Napkins! We use a lot of napkin photography (again, see brand study). The homepage should feature one prominent picture of a napkin. This will be a promo space that will change regularly (but always feature a napkin of some sort). o Don’t make me struggle to read: Many of our users are older. Let’s go with a plain typeface that’s easy to read. Stay away from grooming the body text in such a way that it appears soft or muted. Timeline: We need to have the new design concepts finished within 14 days. We will respond within a few hours to every design concept sent to us. Home Page Elements: o Promotion Hierarchy: 1. Primary promotion ??" cool drawing or photograph. Eye-catching part of the page. This will be our ‘napkin’ (see current site for examples) ??" to be changed on a regular basis. 2. Secondary promotion right now this is represented as the three boxes under the napkin. I don’t like this but we need a way to showcase promotions such as upcoming seminars (with dates), a sale, or a particularly hot publication. o Primary Information: The primary information presented on the homepage will be the recent blog entries. I picture that users will revisit the homepage frequently to check for daily updates. Would be great if we could move this up on the page …. Right now it is ‘below the fold’. o Universal navigation: These elements will include + Home (this is, in effect, the link to the blog) + About (will include contact us) + Solutions + Philosophy + Learning Centers o Primary information: Most visitors will be returning to [url removed, login to view] to read recent blog/entries/posts. This should occupy the primary homepage real-estate. Currently, a user must scroll down to begin to read entries. o Other home page actions and information blocks: + Search + View forimpact by topic/author/keyword + Become a member ??" membership sign-up promo + RSS Feed: Get the newest items to your email. + What we’re reading
