I want to set up an automated thing that will alert me if a company appearing on the RSS feed at [url removed, login to view] has any trade marks, as revealed either by a search here: [url removed, login to view] or in a data set periodically downloaded from [url removed, login to view]
I reckon that a suitable workflow is one of these, but I’m open to suggestions:
Either:
Periodically import the IPO data from [url removed, login to view] into a database held locally. This data does not need to be up-to-the minute, I’m only interested in older entries, so the update could be monthly or even less.
Query the Gazette RSS feed daily to download all and any new entries from the last time it was checked (i.e. the day before)
Hold the Gazette data temporarily
Cross check the Gazette data to look for matches in the IPO data – matching names from the Gazette with proprietor names in the IPO data
In case of a match, save the name and address information from the Gazette data in a report and send that to me somehow – email?. Possibly include the matching IPO data as well.
Delete the originating Gazette data
Or:
Query the Gazette RSS feed daily to download all and any new entries from the last time it was checked (i.e. the day before)
Hold the Gazette data temporarily
Submit the company names from the Gazette data to [url removed, login to view] which will yield either a “nothing found” page or a page listing results for that name
In the latter case, save the name and address information from the Gazette data in a report and send that to me. Possibly include the matching IPO data as well.
Delete the originating Gazette data
Ideally this would run on a spare PC sat somewhere in our office (but could run on a LAMP webserver) . I’d prefer it to auto-submit the data to the IPO and wait for a result before submitting the next query, I don’t want to upset the IPO.
