Automated Header / Footer Change

BACKGROUND We are releasing our new line of 2015 curriculum. It is currently branded to our company's colors and logo. An upsell that we offer to clients is the ability to brand the curriculum with their own colors and logo. EXISTING STRUCTURE We constructed the curriculum on Word and then convert it to PDFs. There are 4 separate sets of curricula. Each set comes with an instructors guide and a student guide. While the instructors guide will always be the same, complete document, the student guide will vary. We offer our clients a print on demand software that allows them to print only the student guide lessons they choose. For this reason, each lesson within the student guide is a separate Word and PDF document currently. In total there are 261 separate documents (4 instructors guides and 257 student guide lessons) that make up our full line of 2015 curriculum. CONSTRAINTS When we change out our brand with that of our client's there are a total of 5 things that must be changed for every odd and even page combination. Please see attached jpeg image. 1) The header bars on each odd and even page must be changed in color. 2) The footer bars on each odd and even page must be changed in color. 3) The logo on odd pages must be either replaced or deleted (depending on client preference). As you will see in the attached zip file with the sample of our curriculum, the text in the header and footer bars changes depending on the lesson. Also, although you cannot see it in the provided example, the text in odd page's header will change as well as we move from one unit to another. I have only provided one unit (Account Management) in this example. There are 5 units for 3 of the 4 curricula set; the 4th set has 10 units. The text within these header and footer bars may also need to be changed to black depending on the clients brand colors. If we can automate this as well, great! However, this is not required as we can simply create a version of the 261 original documents with black text instead of white. The primary objective is to achieve the 5 changes listed above in an expedient manner. The header and footer bars and the logo were placed within the Word header and footer sections. However, due to section breaks in the instructors guides and the individual documents for each student guide, changing out the colors and the logos is not a simply one-time replacement task currently. Although we do not intend to overhaul the curricula series for some time, the possibility does exist that we will need minor text edits for possibly misspellings or lack of clarity. How can these minor changes be dealt with in your solution? The color of the header bar in the example documents within the zip folder are currently a gradient. While applying a gradient to our clients branding colors in the header would be preferable, we understand that this just adds another level of complexity and is therefore not required. A single solid color will suffice. OBJECTIVE We are seeking an expedient method to perform the aforementioned 5 changes. We are open to review any and all solutions. With that said, the solution must be easily repeated once it is completed the first time. We anticipate performing curricula branding changes several time a year. TERM OF AGREEMENT While we are open to an ongoing relationship with the selected contractor for this project in which you execute the branding change for us each time for a fee, your solution must be executable / explainable to another contractor similar to yourself in the event you no longer continue your business over the years. CONCLUSION In your response please provide a quote for either the total project or your hourly rate and your estimated hours to complete the project. Also provide a general, high-level outline of how you expect to complete the project. Once we narrow down the applicants, we can schedule a call to discuss any ambiguity.
