The project presents the design and implementation of a concept map based system for adaptive E-learning. The system allows a student to navigate through the different concepts in class courses and explores the content based on ( her/ his) knowledge background, skills and abilities. Moreover, using multimedia information will encourage the student to discover the relationships between the different concepts of a lecture as using pictures and diagrams are more informative than just text. We anticipate that organizing navigation of lectures based on concept navigation will be more effective for student learning.
Classical lecture presentation nowadays through slide presentations is linear and purely sequential and do not trigger the attention of the learner on the content as it is in general a mechanical slide show which takes the learner from slide to the next one till the end of the lecture. Offering the student a tool to navigate effectively based on the concepts of a lecture will trigger more the attention of the student as he will be deciding where to move next in order to construct his own knowledge of the lecture. This way of presenting the lecture content fits very well with the constructivist approach which suggests that the learner should be active in learning and should be allowed to construct knowledge in an adaptive way to fit with his capabilities and skills.
SYATEM DESIGN
The project aims to design a system to be used in E-learning so that the student can access by using his ID. The system allow the student to manage a lecture based on his/her knowledge base through a navigation tool . The student can discover the content by clicking the concept area that is designed like a network structure then the slides related to the same concept will appear. The system also enable student to write down any comments that are related to the same concept. The history area traces the concepts that have been already explored by the student. These are saved in the learning history of each student and are presented in the interface with a different color
About the system
The concept will be written and saved in a hierarchal way as hyperlink or a table of content by an instructor .
the student will discover the concept by jumping throw these concept and the slides that related will be shown in the middle area and the slides will be categorize according to the concept .
the student can also write definition or comment about this concept.
history area will save the discovered concept .
purpose here is to give student a freedom and satisfaction to guide the presentation.
