Name: I’m here! Tagline: When you want to stand up and be known in your community Summary: An app that lets people find each other Rationale: A comment on an article for dating apps described the situation this way: "Not one of these sites is trans friendly. There is a real need for a site that caters to transgender people and the people who would date them. What is the hold up?" The following project is to allow people in the LGBTQA+ community to connect with each other in a safe way based on a specific location of their choosing. The problem to solve that is communication with and connections to this community sometimes restricted, invisible, or limited in certain contexts. There is no way to identity a member of the community discreetly. Illustrative Scenario: A student moves to a new school, but school does not have a gender and sexuality alliance (GSA). How will the student be able to meet other members of the LGBTQA+ without revealing personal information by asking questions. Design Ideas: System assigns a user an alphanumeric code so that names are not entered at all. Other needs: The app should be available on iPhone first, then Android will be developed second.
