Drupal search by users first name and surname

I have a drupal 7 website and need to be able to search by users by first name and surname. The default user search is just by email and username.
I installed this plugin but can't figure out if it is working or how to use it [login to view URL]
I also have some issue when updating the database after installing modules that would like to be fixed also.
