The website is online, but abandoned by the technician who was supposed to complete the work. It requires 'tidying up'. The site is supposed to be inactive with a membership who pay a fee to place ads for a specialist product. Pay Pal is/will be the banking facility. The pages are boring, dull and need work but I have no access to them, or knowhow in this format to make them more interesting. The programme in use on the website was created by Chris Williams of [[login to view URL]][1] who I'm sure would be helpful to anyone taking this job on. The site is hosted by Alentus. A year ago I employed a technician to create a website with me. I can create websites using Dreamweaver, but that's the limit of my knowledge. For several months the technician 'played' around with what I wanted, but said he had difficulties with the programme which I had bought, at his request, to construct the website. About two months ago the technician decided, due to personal problems, he had no further interest leaving the site uncompleted. The website was uploaded for 'testing' with Alentus as the webhost, so it can be seen in it's present form. Until an agreement is reached with whoever takes on this job, I'm reluctant to give the website address since this is a very competitive field, and getting more so every day. Chris William's will, I'm sure, be very willing to help anyone who approaches him about this site. The technician who previously worked on this kept me so ill-informed I had no idea until a few days ago Alentus was the webhost and not the programme creator too. ## Deliverables When the website is complete it should:- 1. Enable a potential client to sign up as a member of the website on payment of GBP £12.00 per annum and then upload a described item and picture, 200 times. To be able to do this solely on the basis or an email address, username, password/membership number. 2. Enable a client to arrange as many subsequent annual memberships as they need when they have already uploaded 200 items applicable to the first one. 3. Enable a client to describe each item in detail and upload a picture of it. This will using a form with slots for title, designer, size of area depicted by photograph, actual size spplied in either metric or imperial measures or both. 3 tick boxes should be in place for what the item is made of. A panel to describe the item in detail in written form and a series of tick boxes which relate to other sizes. The client should be able to access these to make changes as and when a part of the item for sale is sold. Any one item may fall into a dozen descriptive categories, but we are limiting these oiption to four. This is missing as a faicility presently. Each item should be automatically numbered and this should follow throughout the site. Postage costs are a very important element. Price needs to shown as well as postage cost in the country where the item is located. The vendor can type in the country's location, but the currency should be chosen from the Pay Pal list which they accept. Pay Pal accept. Mainly this will be USA, CA and AUS dollars, the Euro Countries and GBPound. There should be a 'slot' for a description of how payments can be made other than using Pay Pal (similar to Ebay) and any other instructions. A currency converter should be on site. I don't think Chris William's programme does instant currency conversaions as Ebay does. There is no contact email address window at present for buyer to contact seller. 4. It is extremely important the country of location of the item for sale be fairly prominent and the calendar date should always be shown as day, month year in this form - 28 June 2005. The site will be literally universal and Chris William's programme seems to be insisting on the USA format of month, day, year in numerical form. This won't do since it is confusing for non-US citizens in Europe. Everyone understands the format I have stipulated. All potential members of the website should pay their fees through Pay Pal. 5. When potential clients find the site they should see a description of the purpose of the site, Home Page, then link to the category index or sign up for membership. There should be a search facility either on the category page, or separate page if necessary. The category list is complete and in place but it is presently very ugly, overbearing and cumbersome. Something better has to be available. 6. When finding a category and clicking on it, this should link the client to the relevant list from which it is possible to order. I have a problem with this part insofar most of the items on the list will be from different vendors, so a confirmation of the order would probably need to show all the different vendors and their email addresses which the buyer would have to contact individually. The alternative is for a client to click an item and go to the vendor's list of items where the client could browse, contact the seller for postage costs, if necessary, order then move onto another vendor. A major asset of this site is buyers and sellers will be able to use this as a market place in their own country whilst having a 'window to the world' to other buyers and sellers with identical interests. Each buyer on making a purchase, should be given a registration number which will give them access to the Forum. This should be logged against their email address. 7. Chris William's programme has some sort of facility for using Pay Pal which is very much OK for the practical purposes of the website, but he isn't very confident of its efficacy as you can see from his own website. A client coming to the proposed website should be able to indicate to the seller their interest in buying an item, should that seller be located in a different country, and ask for postage costs to be included. A client living in the same country will need to do the same on multiple purchase items but be able to make a straight payment on a single item. Once whatever deal is agreed, payment should be able to be made via Pay Pal to the seller. 8. I hope it will be possible for me to gain control over the site, e.g. style of pages, altering their written material (not asp parts) which I haven't presently. I can access the administrative control of potential members, but that's about it. 9. There should be a forum for proven buyers and all sellers, but visible to all visitors. ## Platform My computer is Windows XP with 3.0+ versions of internet explorer. If this question is referiing to which computers the pages should be available to - answer is as many as possible.
