Wordpress login session to 3 different sites

My project is as follows:
I have 3 wordpress websites: A - B - C I want website A to be the master site. Currently all 3 websites have their own separate database (separate wordpress installations on the same server)
I want website B and C to grab user information from database A so that my members can login to sites B and C with the same credentials they've setup when they signed up to site A.
All account operations like: changing or resetting password or changing profile info should be carried out on site A and users should be able to login to sites B and C with the new credentials if they make modifications.
Also if possible, password recovery (forgot password) and other account operation links on site B and C should be automatically redirected on site A.
Basically, have all user information and profile on site A. Sites B and C should only allow users to login with the same credentials they set on site A. Sites B and C should only read the information regarding their user role and capabilities to unlock downloads based on their membership level they have on site A
Currently I'm using a plugin that syncs users from site A to sites B and C but is giving me a lot of problems and I'm looking for a robust and stable solution that should work even if I update wordpress.
Please explain your approach and your "strategy" so I understand how you are planning to do it. Also suggestions are welcomed.
