The Pressure application is a simple stock market analysis application. The user selects the symbol, date and time increment for analysis. The application reads a text file created by another program, performs 3 calculations based upon default and user specified criteria and displays the results in a table format.
The application will have the ability to save the results of the calculations, print preview/print results, and store summary results for future display.
There will be modules to update user selection criteria, change default settings, and perform system maintenance (i.e. delete older data files).
Objectives
Once the application is written, the primary user will be responsible for maintaining and updating the application.

Business Process
The user has two applications running on the desktop using 2 monitors. One application is a stock charting program that displays stock charts and trades (out of scope). This application allows the user to select a symbol (i.e. stock, index, future or commodity) and instruct it to export every trade for that symbol for a particular day or range of dates. The export file is a text file stored on the local drive of the desktop.
The user would then access the Pressure application, select the symbol to calculate the pressure on, along with the time increment to display the results (i.e. total calculations for every 15 minute period) and the selected date. The application reads the symbol trade file, performs calculations and displays results on the screen based upon the time increment entered. The daily totals are saved to a file for future review. The user can print the screen, save to excel, scroll through all the data or select another symbol for review.
Interactions with Other Systems
The only interaction with another system would be reading the text file from the hard drive and storing information.
The application will need to be able to store the file locations for reading and exporting data. These locations could be on drives other than the C:\ drive.
The application will need the ability to print over a home network.
Replacement of Legacy Systems
This application will replace a much older version of the program. Included with this document is the actual source code of the calculation module to assist with validating the calculation process.
Production Rollout Considerations
The application will be used on Windows based desktops/applications by non-technical personnel. There should be a simple installation and setup process using NSIS or other MSI technology.
Database – SQLite to be used for application’s internal database.
Note – a single day’s text file for one symbol can be 25mb. Assuming at least 50 symbols will be followed per day, that is [url removed, login to view] per day. Application needs to be efficient in how it stores data while allowing the ability to review and edit the data in the event there is an error in the data that needs to be corrected. I.e. separate folder per symbol.
Detailed requirements are attached to this project. All details are provided except for the actual algorithms. They will be provided upon award of the project. Files for testing and QA will be provided as well. Source code will be managed via GitHub private account.
